Massage seession is known as a natural stress reliever. Massage may provide the ultimate relaxation experience, it helps improve blood circulation and to release muscle tension. Many people enjoy the benefits of massage regularly as they have scheduled massage therapy sessions.
However, there are some people who may want to undertake a massage therapy session but are hesitant due to the requirement to undress.
It is not really necessary to take off all of your clothing in a massage session.
A professional massage therapist always respects modesty and your privacy is their utmost concern. In most cases, they will provide you options with regards to undressing.
- Usually, a massage session will require you to take off your clothes to your underwear and will practice “draping”. Draping is a term of the action where a piece of cloth will cover your body and the therapist will reach under the sheet, without looking, and move your arm or leg out from under the sheet to massage these parts. They will tuck the sheet all around your arm or leg so that only these parts will show.
- If you are not at ease of taking off your clothes you may take off only as much clothing as you are comfortable removing. If you don’t want to remove your clothing, wear clothing that will be comfortable during the massage and will allow the massage therapist to touch and move the areas of your body you expect will need to be massaged.
- If at any time you feel that the sheet is not where you want it, always tell your massage therapist so that they can adjust covering. You need to be fully relaxed and worry less about being exposed so it is your right to tell them what can make you at ease.
- At some point of the session, your therapist needs to install the face rest and may ask you to turn over. They will stand at one side of the massage table and lift the sheet from the side away from you them to block any view that they might have of your body. Then you need to roll over however the sheet will be placed to rest over your entire body, completely covering you.
There are types of massage that doesn’t require you to undress such as a seated or chair massage.
If you want to have a chair massage, you will be seated, fully dressed and your neck and back will be massaged. Oftentimes, you will be asked to wear a gown that is open in the back so that the therapist can work on your back thoroughly.
